Both Waist of Unity or legendaries created with Memory of Unity change their effect based on your current covenant, so you don't need to craft four separate second legendaries. While you have complete freedom for your first legendary, your second legendary can only be your Covenant legendary. With this unlock, players are able to either use their Waist of Unity or craft a second legendary using Memory of Unity. This unlock is done by finishing Chapter 7 of the Zereth Mortis campaign. Patch 9.2 adds the option for players to equip two legendary items instead of one. In this guide, we will recommend the best legendary powers and item slots for your Destruction Warlock for Shadowlands content, as well as highlighting which legendaries are not worth crafting.ĭouble Legendaries for Destruction Warlock As your crafted Shadowlands legendary will be the most important piece of gear in the expansion, providing large performance benefits, it is crucial to pick the right legendary to craft and effectively spend your Soul Ash, Soul Cinders, and Cosmic Flux. Shadowlands Legendary powers grant impactful gameplay effects for your Destruction Warlock through the new Runecarving system.

Students will return to their groups, go through the list and sort the conjectures into ones they agree with and ones they disagree with. After 10 minutes each group will share at least one conjecture which I will record on the screen. Once students have completed their charts, they will work with their group to form 3 conjectures about the relationships between the structure of the equations and the structure of the graphs. In groups of two to three, students will move around the classroom and complete the Polynomials Investigation chart in Google Slides for each polynomial. Ten different polynomial equations will be posted around the classroom. Slide 4 re-emphasizes that point and reveals that we need more information in order to sketch an accurate graph. Students will see that there are several possibilities for the sketch. Then on slide 3 students will attempt to sketch the polynomial based upon the x-intercepts. Slide 2 asks students to factor and solve the polynomial. Slide 1 is a visual of a roller coaster and asks students to determine and interpret several key features of polynomials in the context of the roller coaster. In the first 5 minutes of class students will complete slides 1 - 2 of the Intro to Polynomials Desmos. HSF.IF.C.7.c – Graph polynomial functions, identifying zeros when suitable factorizations are available, and showing end behavior. HSF.IF.B.4 – Sketch graphs showing key features including intercepts, intervals where the function is increasing, decreasing, positive, or negative relative maximums and minimums symmetries end behavior and periodicity. Polynomials Investigation Google Slides. It occurs directly after students learn about the degree, leading coefficient, continuity, roots, turning points, and end behavior of polynomials. Students learned how to determine key features such as the vertex, the x-intercept(s), the y-intercept, and the axis of symmetry from the equation and then how to plot the key features in order to sketch the graph of the quadratic function. This is the first time students will ever work with polynomial functions, so prior to this investigation activity students learned about the degree, leading coefficient, continuity, roots, turning points, and end behavior of polynomials. This is the second lesson in the unit. Students learned how to factor and solve quadratic equations to reveal the x-intercepts. Prior to this lesson: Prior to this unit students learned about quadratic functions, which are 2nd-degree polynomials. Social Learning: Students will work with others to compare conjectures and provide counterexamples.Students then identify the key features in relation to the diagram of the roller coaster. Use of Visuals: In the warm-up, the graph of a polynomial equation is compared to the shape of a roller coaster.Chunking: Each component of the lesson will last about 15 minutes.Active Learning (Movement): Students will be moving around the classroom during the first part of the lesson.Grade: 10 - 12th grade (Honors Algebra 2)īrain-based Strategies Used in the Lesson: Based on identified relationships and their knowledge of key features, students will be able to construct a possible polynomial equation to represent a given graph.Įssential Question: How can we use structure to interpret polynomials and to construct a sketch of the graph?.Based on identified relationships, students will be able to sketch a graph of any polynomial function using key features and the equation’s structure. The students will be able to make connections between the algebraic representation of a polynomial and its graph features. The students will identify key features from the graphs of several polynomial functions and then use repeated reasoning and structure to make conjectures about possible relationships between polynomial characteristics. This graph has two \(x\)-intercepts.Polynomials Investigation Lesson Lesson Objectives: \): Illustration of the end behaviour of the polynomial. Well-heeled guests stagger in two-by-two, in a parade of couples therapy. That intimacy suits the play’s sketchy plot: Deputy Mayor Charley of tony Palisades, New York, throws a 10th-anniversary soiree, but he and his wife, Myra, fail to make an appearance. Director Matthew Randall’s solution was to regroup with actors who had relationships in real life and already shared rehearsal bubbles. Like many shows, it was canceled when pandemic lockdowns were ushered in. LTA’s merry production - featuring six couples (one unseen and one a pair of patrolling cops), five doors, and seven injuries - is a makeup from the Little Theatre’s 2020 season. It was a sort of sound check to make sure the laughter could also permeate the room. The consensus: The show must go on, even without concessions or functional water fountains. Upon hearing this, an audible gasp burst through the audience’s face coverings Saturday night. If they fail to comply, the show will be canceled. If they misbehave again, the show pauses. Rather than reminding folks to silence their phones, an announcement warns that if an audience member removes their mask, they will be asked to put it back on. Masks must be worn for the duration of the show. Patrons sit in parties separated by cardboard cutouts (guaranteed purse chair for the ladies!). The Little Theatre makes it safe and easy. When’s the last time you gathered with a hundred or so strangers in the dark and surrendered to communal fantasy? 2. And The Little Theatre of Alexandria’s gutsy production, while not airtight on opening night, captures enough mischief and mayhem to make returning to live, in-person theater worth it.Įmbrace that thought a sec. Rumors was American dramatist Neil Simon’s first foray into farce, so any sophomoric banter is to be forgiven in what remains a sparkling 1980s period piece. Break out Amazon Music Unlimited, Spotify Premium, and YouTube Premium (formerly Red), and they fare relatively better. When looking at aggregate figures, of course the services with free plans do poorly. Amazon Music, Spotify, and YouTube offer both. Apple Music is subscription-only, as has been Tidal until very recently. Premium subscription plans always pay out more than free, ad-supported plans. Tidal comparison to outline the pros and cons of those services.)Īn important distinction in deciding which service will give artists more of your money is premium (subscription) vs. Whether you decide to stick with Spotify, or leave for Apple Music or Tidal, is your own decision. HitPiece has also done this to John Lennon and Taylor Swift songs, too.įor now, though, at least you're more informed about how the unlimited buffet of music actually treats the musicians whose art you love. They're not just going after indie musicians, either. If you thought Spotify's low rates were robbing artists, then look into HitPiece, a site that artists (including Gohd) argue is stealing their music and turning songs into NFTs. but between playlists and just sheer popularity yeah, Spotify is definitely where the most people listen to my music."īefore we parted, Gohd also informed me of a very weird thing happening in online music. Gohd confirmed that her own experience matches this, saying "From the analytics I’ve seen, Spotify is definitely where most people listen to my music, though it seems that Bandcamp," ( here's her Bandcamp page) an independent music service that's also in the 10% "Other" section, "is actually also very popular among my listeners specifically - and I think that’s true for a lot of indie artists because listeners want to proactively support artists they like. That same analysis had Amazon Music slightly under Apple Music, with Tidal not even registering, stuck in the 10% of the chart known as "Other." 27, 2021).Īpple isn't as transparent about its subscriber numbers, so we can only point to analysis that it likely has slightly less than Spotify (at least last year). Spotify also keeps musicians because it has the largest audience, with 209 million active free users and 172 million premium subscribers (as of its Q3 2021 earnings published on Oct. Gohd also told me that Spotify provides "videos and articles helping new artists figure out what to do, including details on how to promote and release new music."Īll of the conversation about Spotify alternatives has definitely made Gohd think twice, as she tells me "While I’m super familiar with Spotify’s features as an artist because it’s been essentially the industry standard, I haven’t yet fully explored what platforms like Apple Music and Tidal have to offer." The other reason musicians stay on Spotify "but between playlists and just sheer popularity yeah, Spotify is definitely where the most people listen to my music." - Chelsea Gohd, aka Foxanne Spotify for Artists also enables musicians to "add fundraising goals to your Spotify page, links out from Spotify, add your own bio, and other materials you would have in an EPK. She then noted, "not that those are easy to get onto." This set of tools, Gohd explained, "allow you to pretty easily apply to editorial playlists with new music. "Spotify’s main draw for me an an artist," she said, "is certainly not the pay, but its Spotify for Artists platform." I also wanted to know about the experience of being an artist on Spotify, and Gohd explained one reason why people would stick with Spotify despite its low rate. Gohd said "Amazon Music pays less than Apple, but still more than Spotify," before noting that the payments aren't always the same, as "sometimes Amazon has paid less than Spotify." Spotify's rate is (clearly) not the best perk Gohd, who's got music on all the major platforms including Spotify, talked to me on the office Slack, confirmed that "Apple Music pays quite a bit more than Spotify," before adding "Tidal better than Apple." She also noted that "there are a few smaller platforms that pay more but they’re much smaller."Īnd as for Jeff Bezos' digital jukebox? It's complicated. “Adultery takes one out of one’s usual life, sometimes in unusual ways,” she says of their weekly-sometimes twice weekly-guilty midday trysts, which moved from a seedy midtown hotel (the Belvedere) to a seedy one-room apartment rented for these assignations. Malcolmishness, to an adulterous relationship with “G” in the early 1970s. And then along comes “The Apartment,” toward the end of the volume, where we find Malcolm confessing, in a rather starting departure from her longstanding. I’m not sure I’d call the quality of forensic scrutiny she brought to the enterprise a form of deep optimism about the human plight, the underlying premise being that people are engineered for deception, and that self-deception is just the frosting on the cake.Įven so, I was charmed and lulled by Malcolm’s late-in-life memoirish turn: mostly half-remembered reminiscences of her family, childhood, and adolescence, from Nazi-occupied Prague to émigré New York. A big chunk of what I know about the art of creative inference I learned from Malcolm, who practiced it deftly (sometimes ruthlessly). She was good at revealing people to themselves not all her subjects loved that about her. Indeed, other people’s compulsions to confess things they probably shouldn’t was the meat and bones of her reported pieces and profiles, including such inadvertent “confessions” as an inapt word choice, a chaotic love life, or an overly self-conscious item of living room decor, all of which became, in Malcolm’s hands, a window onto some hapless striver’s soul. She was a writer singularly and supremely herself in every sentence you didn’t require the grubby personal specifics to feel you knew her well. Malcolm, who died in 2021, enjoyed a pretty tight-lipped career when it came to dispensing biographical data points. Which brings me to Janet Malcolm’s posthumously published collection of autobiographical fragments, Still Pictures: On Photography and Memory. Needless to say, the more forthcoming you appear, the more calculated the agenda, not always consciously. Even I, who once fled the first-person singular like a bad smell, now talk about myself endlessly in print, opening every essay or review with some “revealing” anecdote or slightly abashed confession, striving for the perfect degree of manicured self-deprecation and helpless charm. We age and turn inward, we become garrulous and spill. WE LIVE IN CONFESSIONAL TIMES and the self-exposure bug eventually comes for us all, the steeliest of non-disclosers, no less. Midland: Located in the hills of Texas, the first resident of this new community in 1882 was a sheep farmer who moved there from California. It is called the “Hub City” because 5 major Texas highways all converge here. Even though over 200,000 people call this community home, there is a real emphasis within Lubbock to keep a small town feel to the city. Lubbock: This city is unique in the fact that it was founded by a Texas Ranger in 1876. This is despite the fact that only about 1500 people call this place home. It’s runway sees more takeoffs and landings than any other airport in the country on average every single day. Houston: Founded in 1836 by two brothers, this city has become the 4 th largest in the United States. It was also the location of the famous “Four Dead in 5 Seconds” shootout. This street is the city’s first and oldest street and it has seen the footsteps of Wyatt Earp, Pat Garrett, Billy the Kid, President William H. Most famous here, however is El Paso Street. It’s also called the “Helium Capital of the World” because a majority of the world’s gas that can be purchased comes from this area. Let’s take a brief look at each one of them:Īmarillo: Located in the Texas panhandle, the city is named after the yellow grass that grows in the area. To cover this mass of land, there are several Texas doppler radar stations in operation. Some of the biggest and most expensive high school football stadiums exist in Texas, but that’s probably fitting considering that just about everything is bigger in Texas. All of these come together, however, every Friday night during the Fall as high school football season swings into high gear. He took skill and effort to learn, unlike your novice level pokemon that you can just spam attack and basically be fine. Fun fact: Those are all expert level pokemon, they take skill to learn, and they take skill to counter, anyone can pick up pikachu and play him fine, you may play him better than others, but anyone can pick him up easily. If you asked most people playing this game if gengar, absol, and zeraora were broke, most would say yes. He isn't just your average pikachu, he isn't your average charizard, he's an expert level 'mon, and theres a reason for that. That's why gengar ISNT broken, he was designed to be like this, why? you might ask, because he's *expert* difficulty. gengar's tag line is literally "*ambush the competition as you become their worst nightmare*" In order for something to be broken it has to not work like it's supposed to, that's the definition of broken, and in gaming, broken means it doesn't function the way it was intended to and is much better. Of course, magic mirrors are a well-researched topic by now, but you can always put a new spin on an old topic, like in this this retro-tv-based build. With these instructions, you can easily build a low-power single-page browser when all you have is a fairly basic Raspberry Pi board. The webserver runs in Heroku cloud, but we wager that, with such a minimal install, it could as well run on the device itself. In place of Chromium, you can install Midori, which is a lean browser that works quite well in single-website mode, and shows you how to make it autostart, as well as the little quirks that make sure your display doesn’t go to sleep. Starting with Raspbian Lite, a distribution that doesn’t ship with any desktop features by default, he shows how to equip it with a minimal GUI – no desktop environment needed, just an X server with the OpenBox window manager, as you don’t need more for a kiosk mode application. Not to give up, gives us a step-by-step breakdown on creating a low-footprint Raspbian install showing a single webpage. Sadly, all he could get was single-1 GHz-core 512MB-RAM Zero W boards, which he found unable to run Chromium well enough given the stock Raspbian Desktop install, let alone a webserver alongside it. wanted to build a magic mirror with a web-based frontend, and a modern enough Raspberry Pi would’ve worked just fine. For quite a few hackers out there, it’s still hard to find a decently powerful Raspberry Pi for a non-eye-watering price. |
